​Inspiration and Concept

During the creation of "Memory," I was heavily inspired by artists like Illenium, Fairlane, Nurko, and San Holo. Their use of guitar solos in future bass tracks fascinated me, and I wanted to create a similar vibe in my music. This song became my homage to their influence while adding my unique touch.

Lyrics

The lyrics of "Memory" revolve around themes of escape, reflection, and moving on from a past relationship. They capture the struggle of dealing with memories and the emotional liberation that comes with letting go. The chorus emphasizes the realization that being left with just a memory can be both a curse and a blessing.

Production Details

This track marks a significant milestone in my production journey as it was the first time I resampled a sample and started chopping them up. I wanted the last drop to echo the style of San Holo's "Light" as a tribute, but I held back to avoid copyright issues. This experience taught me the power of resampling and opened new horizons for my  production work.

Reception and Impact

To promote "Memory," I sent it to Twitch streamers who listen to viewer submissions. The feedback was positive, and people liked it enough to add it to their playlists. This method of promotion allowed me to reach new audiences and gauge real-time reactions to my music.

Songwriting Process

The process began with the drop. I was on the hunt for guitar samples and found a distorted guitar loop that perfectly fit the energetic future bass drop I envisioned. Once the drop was crafted, I searched for vocals to complete the song. I found the perfect vocals in a sample pack, added them to my DAW, and composed the remaining elements. After mixing everything together, "Memory" was ready for release.

Personal Reflections

Resampling and chopping samples have revolutionized my production process, offering new creative possibilities. This track stands as a testament to the evolving nature of my music and the influence of artists I admire. The process of making "Memory" was both challenging and rewarding, pushing me to innovate and expand my skills.
