Inspiration and Concept

I'll be really honest with this one: I was quite immature when I released "Alone." I used a project file from a sample pack, changed the melody and chords while keeping the same groove and synths, and released it as my own. Despite some backlash from producer communities, I decided to release it anyway after receiving mixed advice. I added my own elements, making it unique enough that the average listener wouldn't care. Surprisingly, "Alone" became my most streamed song.

Lyrics

The lyrics of "Alone" reflect feelings of loneliness and betrayal. They tell a story of trust given and subsequently broken, with the protagonist reflecting on their solitude and the emotional impact of being left behind.

Production Details

In terms of production, I changed some sounds, added new melodies, and modified the chords and basslines from the original project file. This approach helped me retain the foundational elements while introducing my personal touches.

Visuals

Cover Art: For the cover art, I was inspired by Alan Walker's style. I created an image of a person wearing a hoodie, facing beautiful mountains, with my logo on the back of the hoodie. This visual symbolizes the theme of solitude and aligns perfectly with the song's title.

Reception and Impact

"Alone" was controversial because of how it was created, but it surprisingly became my most streamed song before "City & States" People really liked it, even though it received mixed reactions from the producer community.

Songwriting Process

The songwriting process for "Alone" was quick and straightforward. I made minor changes to the project file, which allowed me to create and release the song rapidly.

Personal Reflections

I feel guilty when I think about how I can't remix project files made for educational purposes for commercial use. This guilt still stings a bit whenever I listen to "Alone" again. But this tampering of project files taught me how to make original music using my own creativity.

I was just trying to fill up my discography without thinking of the consequences, and I might make a VIP version of this song someday.
