Frequently Asked Questions about Kalium

How did you discover your passion for music production and EDM?

Sometime when Alan Walker's sound was popular, I always wondered how did he come up with such songs cause I as person was used to listening to mainstream pop, rap music and out of nowhere he released Faded and I researched the tools he used and I also started to produce music

What genres of music do you specialize in, and what drew you to those styles?

I started with future house and future bass music and as the years went by new genres kept coming, made electro house, future bounce, colour house and stuff, I like Future Funk and I currently make future funk with a bit of colour bass sound design

What are some of your proudest musical achievements and milestones in your career?

This may sound small but my first achievement of surpassing 1000 streams on Spotify for my song "Alone", I still don't know how I even got such streams on Spotify that moment was super motivating for me. Also, the opportunity to work with Krsna Solo sir and one of our songs got into Rolling Stones music picks too

What artists or producers have had the most significant influence on your work?

Mo Falk, Chime, Virtual Riot, Osrin, Ellis etc. I combine sounds from their genres and that can be what my sound is (arguably) so basically my music or my "sound" would be a bit of their styles combined

What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of music production?

I enjoy indulging in origami and am a prolific manga reader. As an independent artist, I had to learn a lot of stuff to execute things. I like graphic design so that I can make my own album cover or merch. and at this age of Artificial Intelligence I spend some time learning about Stable Diffusion and other generative A.I Models

What motivates you to continue creating and sharing your passion with the world?

I make stuff based on my creative and productive energy, if you keep thinking about the outcomes then you become commercial and materialistic and slowly forget why you even started doing what you do

Are there any challenges you faced in pursuing your passion for music, and how did you overcome them?

Well, I'm not a music-making machine, I don't sit in my studio working on a blank project waiting for ideas to come magically, I only make music when I have something to work on like some melody I have composed in my head or some element of inspiration which I got after listening to songs on Spotify. If I got nothing, I'm just wasting my time

How do you stay motivated and inspired during moments of creative blocks or challenges?

Just as Zedd said not to force creativity while making art and letting it flow naturally. but if I had to work on music for any particular reason I would browse through looped samples and think of how I can change them into a full song, that sometimes does it for me

Why is your logo a Japanese kanji for book?

I simply put all my letters in my name and tried to make a monogram kind of logo my friend made one similar to the kanji and then I recalled a Japanese kanji letter that I saw from an anime and I made it my logo

EQUIPMENTS I USE

From my experience working with ‘Kalium’, I can surely say he is a very dynamic, young, cool musician from India, who knows his strengths and preferences well. Being well versed with all forms of EDM, he has what it takes to deliver International mainstream level music as an able producer dot on time. I highly recommend other composers and songwriters to have him on board if someone wants to explore EDM, Future Bass, Future House, Chillstep and else.

Hi, I'm Kalidas Aneesh, but you might know me as Kalium. My journey into music has been quite an adventure. My parents are from Kerala, but we moved around India a lot, living in places like Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kerala before finally settling in Bangalore.

Music has always been a part of my life. When I was a kid, I studied Hindustani classical music for three years and learned to play the tabla. My passion for electronic music was ignited by my admiration for Alan Walker during my school days. Seeing people remix his songs made me realize that music could be created digitally. I was eagerly waiting for a remix competition to push me to make my own music, which finally happened with the Skio Music contest for The Chainsmokers and ILLENIUM's song "Takeaway." That was my calling, and I haven't looked back since.

I now produce a variety of electronic genres, including future bass, dubstep, color bass, future house, electro house, DnB, future funk, and trap. My music is inspired by artists like Mofalk, RetroVision, Chime, Ellis, Osrin, and Virtual Riot.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been connecting with people in similar situations and discovering new artists and genres. However, I've faced challenges in getting people interested in my songs and figuring out effective promotion and marketing strategies.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope my music brings you as much joy as it brings me.
